How to Replace a Section or Fix Lyrics in a Suno Song

Use Suno’s Replace Section tools to revise a passage, test new lyrics, and compare alternate edits without losing the original song.

Replace Section generates new audio for a selected part of a song. It can help revise lyrics or arrangement, but it is a fresh generation of that passage—not a text-only correction that guarantees the original melody will stay unchanged.

Select only the passage you want to revisit

Open the song editor through the song’s More Actions or Edit menu, then choose Replace Section. Play the song and set the selection around the phrase that needs work. Include enough musical context at the edges to judge the transition, but avoid selecting extra sections that already work.

Before editing, save the original lyrics and note the timing of the selected passage. If the words are misaligned with the audio, check the displayed lyrics and selection carefully; the editor uses the selected region as the basis for the replacement.

Give the replacement a focused direction

For a lyric correction, change only the lines that need revision and keep the surrounding structure clear. For a musical change, describe one target such as a softer delivery or a stronger drum part. Too many simultaneous instructions make it harder to understand why a candidate changed.

Generate the replacement and audition every offered version in context. Listen for the corrected words, vocal tone, rhythm, and the join into the sections before and after it. Suno may alter phrasing or melody in the regenerated region, so do not assume a one-word edit will preserve every note.

Commit only after checking the full result

If a candidate is close, adjust the transition boundary if the editor offers that control, then play the full song rather than only the edited clip. Compare it with the original and keep both versions until you decide which one belongs in the project.

For several lyric changes across a song, weigh whether a new cover or a fresh generation is easier to manage than many local replacements. Each route creates a new interpretation; export a backup before committing to a version for distribution.

Common questions

Can Replace Section change one word without changing the melody?

It may regenerate the selected audio, including the delivery and melody. Use it to audition a revised passage, but do not expect a text-only change that preserves every note.

Can I get my original version back?

Keep the source generation and export before editing. Suno creates new edited results, so retaining the original makes it easy to compare or return to the earlier version.
